According to the US Department of State (DOS), approximately 1 in 5 TN visa applications submitted by Mexican citizens are being denied. These applications are currently processed at three US Consulates in Mexico: Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Ciudad Juarez.

Instead, it may appear that the foreign national is being hired for non-professional services, which do not meet TN visa requirements.
- Increased Fraud Prevention Measures: The DOS has been actively working to reduce fraud by standardizing the TN visa review process. In 2022, the DOS consolidated the number of US Consulates in Mexico processing TN applications from six to three (Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Ciudad Juarez). This consolidation aims to facilitate the implementation of consistent review processes and enhance training for consulate officers.
