Automatic Extension of Certain EAD’s Increases to 540 days
Due to the increased processing times for Employment Authorization Document (“EAD”) renewals, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) has increased the 180-day automatic extension period for certain timely filed EAD renewals effective May 4, 2022.
USCIS will now provide an additional 360 days for a total of up to 540 days of automatic EAD extension time to eligible applicants with pending renewals. This automatic extension includes those previously eligible individuals whose 180-day automatic extension period already lapsed yet whose EAD renewals are still pending.
