Top 5 (Immigration) New Year’s Resolutions For Employers

The transition to a new year brings with it reflection of the past year and thoughts and plans to make sure this New Year is even better than the last. With regard to employer-sponsored immigration, here are five resolutions employers can adopt for 2015.

5) I will ask my attorney to begin to prepare new H-1B petitions for my foreign national employees as early as possible in 2015 so that we can meet the USCIS April submission deadline.

4) I will create a policy and procedure for my international employees coming to our U.S. offices for meetings, training and work to be sure they are obtaining the proper visa in advance of traveling to the U.S..

3) I will streamline my Green Card Sponsorship processes and procedures to improve efficiency to help make our foreign national employees happy.

2) I will ask my attorneys how I can leverage their immigration case management software to make my own processes more efficient.

1) I will “clean house” with my I-9 and E-Verify records and ensure I have all the right processes, procedures and training in place to ensure compliance so I am ready in the event of an I-9 audit/investigation.
