Physician News: Immigration Alternatives for J-1 Physicians to Waiver or H-1B

Historically, many states have exhausted their J-1 waiver allotment under the Conrad State 30 Waiver Program before the end of the first quarter, and demand for H-1B skilled professional worker visas for cap-subject employers has exceeded supply for years, leaving a number of J-1 Physicians, and their employers, in search of alternatives as they seek to extend their employment in the United States. None of President Obama’s November 20, 2014 Immigration Executive Action addressed employers’ need for more nonimmigrant visas for skilled professionals, such as physicians. However, for qualified physicians, immigration alternates to the J-1 waiver and H-1B visa still exist to extend their stay in the U.S until a waiver can be obtained. Click here to read more.
